So there are a lot of different groups here on Deviant Art, for lots of different purposes and containing lots of different subject matter...
So, my question is: How important are groups on DA?
Because I've always felt a bit under appreciated on this site. The only reason I've stayed here is because I've met so many wonderful freakin people and discovered so much fantastic art (that I otherwise wouldn't have). So I'm not trying to drag DA through the mud or anything, but I always see people who do the most generic, terrible crap who have WAY more followers than I do. And I understand that my work isn't "mainstream" at all and perhaps that is hard to swallow for people. That's fine. But why is it that so many generic people get all the praise and so many unique individuals get unnoticed? And its not just me, there a lot of talented artists out there that aren't getting the proper attention they deserve.
So coming back full circle now. Are the people who are getting all the followers and Daily Deviations (who don't really deserve them) perhaps utilizing the website itself in ways that I haven't taken the time to discover? Are groups super important and should I be posting my work in a hundred different groups to grab people's attention?
So that's my question, hopefully I don't come off as snotty or jealous. It's just something I've been pondering for a while. Perhaps my demographic is just smaller than I think. Iunno.
